Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has defended her long-standing portrayal of villainous characters in films, insisting that her roles are designed to expose societal ills rather than reflect her real-life personality.
Speaking during a recent video chat, the 67-year-old actress addressed public perceptions that often associate her with the strict, controversial and sometimes wicked characters she has played on screen over the years.
Popularly known as “Mama G,” Ozokwor said many viewers wrongly assume she behaves like the characters she portrays, stressing that acting is a professional craft built on storytelling and moral reflection.
According to her, the purpose of such roles is to shine a light on negative behaviours and realities that many people prefer to ignore. “I feel bold to expose the ills in society,” she said, adding that she is proud of her work and grateful that many fans understand the message behind her performances.
The actress maintained that her on-screen image should not be confused with her true character.
