Primate Ayodele Sets February 14 to commission Mosque
Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has announced Saturday, February 14, 2026 as date for the commissioning of a mosque he personally built.
The commissioning will also mark the conclusion of his 21-day annual thanksgiving programme, which began in January and ends on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
This mosque is notable because it represents a rare act by a prominent Christian leader; there has been no previous report of a Christian cleric building a mosque before now. Primate Ayodele revealed that he announced plans for the mosque last year.
He explained that his decision to build the mosque was not driven by a desire to change his religion, but rather by a divine directive he received years ago.
“My decision to build a Mosque is not because I want to become a Muslim, but a direct representation of what God told me to do. I have Muslims attending my church, I attend Muslim programmes to preach when I am called upon, and I have several Muslim friends, so following the God-given instruction was not too hard for me.”
Primate Ayodele added that the mosque symbolizes religious tolerance and reflects his love for humanity despite religious differences.
“Beyond being a divine instruction, this is a message of religious tolerance across the globe. If we can resolve the issue of religion in the world, it would definitely be a better place for all of us. I love everyone, regardless of their religion or tribe, and building a mosque further showcases that. God created everyone equally; we should not celebrate things that further divide us.”
Regarding the mosque’s administration, he stated that it will be handed over to the Islamic community, with no interference from him.
“By God’s grace, the mosque will be named after the late mother of President Tinubu, and we will be handing over its operations to the Islamic community without any interference.”
The cleric is also known for supporting other churches and religious communities. Primate Ayodele has funded church building projects, empowered individuals who are not members of his congregation, and raised funds for churches outside his own.
