Nigerian Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold has shared an emotional account of one of the most painful moments of his life, revealing that he once wished for death during a severe sickle cell crisis at the age of 20.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Angela Yee, the singer recounted how the intense pain left him physically and emotionally exhausted. According to him, the health crisis became so unbearable that he pleaded with God to take his life.
Adekunle Gold explained that his mother, who would usually rebuke him for making such statements, remained silent because of the severity of the situation.
The award-winning singer, however, expressed gratitude for surviving the difficult experience and said he continues to manage the health condition while inspiring others living with sickle cell disorder through his story and advocacy efforts.
