Popular media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has opened up about his past struggle with cigarette addiction, revealing that he smoked for 13 years after picking up the habit as a teenager in junior secondary school.
Speaking on the MENtality podcast alongside Banky W and health advocate Aproko Doctor, Ebuka disclosed that his smoking habit became severe during his university days, when he consumed up to two packs of cigarettes daily.
According to him, overcoming the addiction required discipline, self-awareness and intentional lifestyle changes. He stressed that many people remain trapped in destructive habits because they fail to confront the emotional triggers behind them.
During the discussion, Banky W also admitted battling pornography addiction in the past, while Aproko Doctor explained that addiction often develops as a coping mechanism for emotional pain and stress.
The conversation has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians praising the celebrities for speaking openly about addiction and mental health challenges.
