Afrobeats star Davido has announced a major shift in his musical journey, revealing plans to prioritise authentic African sounds over Western influences as he enters a new phase of his career.
Speaking during an interview on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show hosted by Eddie Kadi, the award-winning singer said he feels fulfilled by his global achievements and is now ready to reconnect more deeply with his roots.
Davido noted that he has performed on the world’s biggest stages, sold out major arenas, and attended the Grammy Awards three times in the last three years, achievements he described as milestones already conquered.
“This part of my career, I have performed everywhere and sold out every arena. The music that is coming next is very African and very Davido,” he said.
He also highlighted his strong following in South Africa, describing it as a major achievement for an Afrobeats artist in a market dominated by American and local sounds.
