Popular Nigerian singer and music executive D’Prince has condemned what he described as the growing monetisation of cyberbullying within the entertainment industry, warning that online hostility is being weaponised for profit.

In a post on X, D’Prince said some podcasts and media platforms now thrive on controversy, paid narratives, and coordinated online attacks designed to generate traffic and revenue.

He stressed that creatives already face intense pressure to survive and sustain their careers, arguing that internet attention should never come at the expense of an artist’s mental health, dignity, or emotional wellbeing.

According to him, the trend is no longer limited to entertainment, as organised digital harassment is spreading across multiple sectors of social media.

He called for stronger accountability, professionalism, and humanity in journalism and digital culture to curb what he termed toxic fanaticism online.

While reaffirming support for freedom of speech, he cautioned against online abuse nationwide today.
