An Islamic cleric in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Alhaji Muhammad Bakoshi, has been killed after armed bandits invaded his residence in the early hours of Saturday.
The attackers, whose number could not be immediately confirmed, stormed the cleric’s home in Zalau community and shot him dead.
Until his death, Bakoshi served as the Discipline Officer of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in the area.

During the raid, the bandits also abducted his wife who reportedly delivered a baby two weeks ago — and their daughter, whisking them away to an unknown location.
The incident has heightened fear and mourning across the community, which has suffered repeated attacks from criminal gangs.
As of the time of filing this report, the Bauchi State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
