The All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected Bola Oyebamiji as its governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election following the conclusion of the party’s primary held on Saturday in Osogbo.
Oyebamiji emerged through an affirmation process adopted by the party for the primary. The decision was reached after other aspirants stepped down in line with the resolution of the APC National Working Committee.
Announcing the development, former governorship aspirant Kunle Rasheed Adegoke said the adoption of Oyebamiji as the party’s flagbearer reflected a collective agreement among all contestants.

“With the consent of all other aspirants, I move that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji be adopted as the consensus candidate to contest the 2026 governorship election,” Adegoke said.
The motion was seconded by Senator Babajide Omoworare, paving the way for Oyebamiji’s emergence as the consensus candidate.
The Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Committee and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebolo, subsequently declared Oyebamiji as the party’s official candidate for the 2026 governorship race.
The primary took place at Ebunoluwa Hall, Osogbo, under tight security, with about 1,660 accredited delegates participating in the exercise. Okpebolo had earlier announced that the party would use the affirmation method to select its flagbearer.
