Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, has debunked claims suggesting he intention to marry former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, saying she remains “a mother figure” to him.
The rumour, which spread rapidly across social media platforms including Facebook and X, was fueled by an image circulated online and labelled as a “pre-wedding” photograph of the pair.

The claims surfaced several months after the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2025 and shortly after Aisha Buhari concluded her Islamic mourning period (idda) on November 18, 2025, a timing that appeared to intensify speculation about possible remarriage.
An extensive fact-check conducted by PRNigeria, supported by digital forensic investigations, found the claims to be false.
According to the verification, the image at the centre of the controversy was not authentic.
