A Nigerian woman has sparked online discussion after revealing how she handled her husband’s decision to cut her monthly allowance from ₦600,000 to ₦200,000.
Sharing her story in a viral TikTok video, she explained that both she and her husband are financially independent, but he compared her spending to his elder brother’s wife, who reportedly manages a household of four children on ₦200,000.
Instead of arguing, the woman chose to adjust her household budget accordingly.
She reduced bulk purchases, switched to more affordable brands, simplified meals, and cut non-essential luxuries, all while ensuring her two children’s needs were met.
After about a week, her husband noticed the changes and, impressed by her resourcefulness, apologised for the drastic reduction and promised to revise the allowance.
