Fashion designer Veekee James has sparked fresh debate online after firmly stating that her husband, Femi Atere, can never have a female best friend.
She made the remark during an appearance on the Off the Top podcast with VJ Adams, where she was asked whether men could maintain close friendships with women who are not their partners.
Veekee explained that while some men may be able to manage such relationships, the arrangement has no place in her own marriage.
She noted that certain people, including the host and even her brother, could have genuine female best friends if their partners were comfortable with it.
However, she emphasised that her marriage operates with different boundaries.
According to her, there is “no space” in her home for her husband to share such closeness with another woman, adding that if any space existed, she would “occupy it completely”.
Her comments have stirred mixed reactions, with many discussing personal limits, loyalty, and how couples define acceptable friendship dynamics within marriages.
