Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo of the Church of Christ in Nations has stirred debate after publicly recounting his involvement in a 1980 bank robbery in Jos, Plateau State.
The cleric claimed that he participated in the heist alongside a close friend and a gang, making off with a substantial sum.
In a dramatic recount, Dachomo said he experienced a life-changing spiritual encounter during the operation, describing how Jesus appeared with seven angels who struck down fourteen people in the gang while he hid among the bodies, pleading for forgiveness.
He said the experience led him to abandon criminal life and embrace religion, even breaking habits such as smoking.
However, Sheikh Yusuf Haruna Baban Chinedu disputed Dachomo’s claims, insisting the gang was attacked by security agents and that the story of divine intervention is fabricated.
The public remains divided, with some seeing a testimony of transformation and others questioning its authenticity.
