A Nigerian woman has appealed to the government over the prolonged detention of her boyfriend, who she says has been held for five years without progress on his case.
In a viral video shared on X, the woman said she had just returned from visiting him at a correctional facility, where he complained of poor wellbeing and a lack of information about his trial.
She alleged that despite the length of his detention, his case file has not been opened, leaving both of them in prolonged uncertainty.
The woman said that before his arrest, they swore an oath of commitment, a promise she believes prevents her from moving on or marrying someone else.
According to her, the situation has caused years of emotional distress, frequent prison visits, and fear about her future.
Visibly frustrated, she called on relevant authorities to intervene, review her boyfriend’s case, and ensure justice is served.
