Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that President Bola Tinubu treats governance as serious business, crediting the administration’s decision to remove the FCT from the Treasury Single Account for accelerating infrastructure development across Abuja.
Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Wike said the policy now allows the FCT Administration to secure bank financing using its Internally Generated Revenue as collateral, ensuring contractors receive prompt payments and projects are completed faster.
He also vowed that his administration would not tolerate roadside trading, illegal markets or hoodlums occupying public spaces, insisting that illegality cannot be justified as a means of survival.
Wike announced the creation of a specialised task force to clear major junctions of illegal operators and warned against criticism of the enforcement exercise.
He further promised that the long-delayed Apo-Karshi road, first awarded in 2010, would be completed and commissioned before the end of December, while reaffirming his commitment to sustained infrastructure development.
