A Nigerian clergyman has warned that allowing a wife to shoulder the financial responsibilities of the home for an extended period could seriously harm a marriage.
Speaking in a viral message, the cleric said that although many women are supportive and willing to help during difficult times, prolonged financial pressure can create emotional and psychological strain within the home.
He argued that women are not naturally designed to carry the primary financial burden long-term, even when they love their husbands.
According to him, men facing financial hardship often experience deep stress but lack the emotional intelligence or communication skills to properly express their struggles, which may worsen marital tensions.
The clergyman described such periods as particularly sensitive for men, stressing the need for intentional financial rebuilding.
He urged men to take responsibility for improving their finances, describing provision as both a moral and spiritual obligation.
He added that failure to provide can threaten family stability and marital harmony.
