The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has opened up about the public scrutiny he faced before and after marrying his wives.
Speaking at the launch of Ojaja University in Osun State, he recalled how people often questioned why he remained single and urged him to find a queen.
Even after marrying, he faced criticism over the attention given to his first queen.
Reflecting on his personal journey, the monarch revealed that his first queen eventually left him.
He said, “The queen left me. To the glory of God, God blessed me with seven more. Did I not try?”
His comments drew laughter and applause from three of his current wives, Olori Folasade, Olori Ronde, and Olori Temitope, who attended the event.
The Ooni also reflected on his 2018 marriage to Queen Silekunola Naomi, which ended in 2021, highlighting the challenges of balancing public expectations with personal life.
His candid remarks underscore his journey from criticism to establishing a large royal family while celebrating a decade on the throne.
