A married woman, Mrs. Ramatu Abbas, from Donga Local Government Area in Taraba State, has allegedly attacked 17-year-old Iwasen Terhemba with a razor blade.

According to sources who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune, Mrs. Abbas accused the teenager of having an affair with her husband. Local reports suggest that Mr. Abbas had made repeated advances toward the girl, which she reportedly rejected, citing her age and his marital status.

Residents say that after learning of her husband’s alleged behaviour, Mrs. Abbas began issuing verbal threats against the minor. Concerned for the teenager’s safety, her guardian, Jemila Savalla Wanga, reportedly approached Mrs. Abbas to explain the situation and urged her to restrain her husband.

Residents said Mrs. Abbas later went to the girl’s home and attacked her with a razor blade, leaving injuries on her face. They added that the attacker allegedly warned both the victim and her guardian against reporting the incident, insisting that the matter should be “settled at home.”

The incident has reportedly sparked outrage in the community, with residents demanding justice and stronger protection for minors against abuse and violence.

Police authorities in Donga Local Government confirmed the incident, stating: “We have received the case, and from our investigation, the girl has nothing to do with Mr Abbas. In fact, our findings revealed that Mr Abbas had previously attempted to assault her, but she resisted.

“The girl is innocent. We have charged the attacker, Mrs Ramatu Abbas, to court. This is not a matter to be taken to the headquarters; she will be prosecuted here.

“The victim is currently receiving medical care at a nearby clinic,” the police added.
