The Super Eagles will receive a financial boost in their quest for a 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket, as players have been promised $50,000 for every goal scored in tonight’s playoff showdown against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The national team recently pocketed $120,000 following their 4–1 win over Gabon last Thursday, with each goal in that match attracting $30,000.

This enhanced reward package, introduced by the National Sports Commission (NSC) in partnership with undisclosed corporate sponsors, is designed to motivate the squad ahead of their decisive clash.

Officials say the incentive is expected to further lift the spirit of the team as they aim to progress to the global finals.

Tonight’s encounter is crucial for both sides, as the winner between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Leopards of DR Congo will advance to the Intercontinental playoffs scheduled for March 2025 in Mexico, where a World Cup spot will be on the line.
