The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate and incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has won in all 21 local government areas of the state following the conclusion of Saturday’s governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concluded collation early Sunday morning at its headquarters in Awka, where the process was supervised by the state’s Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie.

According to the results released from the 5,718 polling units across the state, Soludo recorded a commanding victory with 422,664 votes, far ahead of his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 99,445 votes.

The Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed with 10,505 and 1,401 votes respectively.

Although the final declaration of the winner is still pending as INEC officials finalise tabulations, the outcome indicates a landslide for the APGA candidate, reaffirming Soludo’s dominance in Anambra’s political landscape.

The collation exercise, which began around midnight and lasted until 6 a.m. on Sunday, witnessed the presence of party agents, security operatives, election observers, and journalists.

Below are highlights of the LGA results:

Aguata LGA: APGA – 35,559; APC – 4,125; YPP – 2,746.

Awka South LGA: APGA – 27,896; APC – 5,038; YPP – 1,201.

Nnewi North LGA: APGA – 20,320; APC – 5,441; LP – 1,140.

Ihiala LGA: APGA – 23,557; APC – 4,425; YPP – 3,069.

Idemili North LGA: APGA – 25,498; APC – 6,383; LP – 1,275.

Orumba South LGA: APGA – 19,818; APC – 2,828; YPP – 877.

In all 21 LGAs, Soludo’s APGA maintained an overwhelming lead, reaffirming the party’s deep-rooted support across the state.

Meanwhile, electoral materials and voting results were transmitted electronically through INEC’s Result Viewing (IReV) portal, which officials confirmed functioned optimally in most areas.

Observers praised the peaceful conduct of the exercise, though minor logistical delays were recorded in parts of Ogbaru, Ayamelum, and Anambra West.

INEC is expected to officially declare Prof. Soludo as the winner once collation and verification are completed.
