Popular Nigerian social media activist Verydarkman (VDM) has criticised Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson following the arrest of TikTok creator Eedie Bliss.
The content creator was detained in Abuja after allegedly sharing claims that Mercy Johnson’s husband, Prince Henry Okojie, had fathered a child with another woman and colluded with the woman’s house help to cause a miscarriage.
VDM described the arrest as heavy-handed and unfair, pointing out the double standard, recalling how Mercy previously opposed the detention of Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy, over defamation.
He urged the actress to pursue civil legal action instead of using police intervention, emphasising that Eedie Bliss had cited her source in the video.
VDM highlighted the unnecessary stress on the young TikToker, especially with her wedding scheduled soon, and called for her immediate release.
The incident has sparked online debate over freedom of expression, defamation, and the proper legal approach to social media controversies.
