Abba Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and predicting an easy victory for him in the 2027 presidential election.
Abba announced his defection on Monday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, after collecting his APC membership card at Gwadabawa Ward in Yola North Local Government Area.
Explaining his decision, he said he was drawn to the ruling party by what he described as the current administration’s economic policies and human development agenda.

“I want to make it very clear that nobody or any political party can stop President Bola Tinubu from returning to Aso Rock come 2027. Nigerians have seen his good work; he is not a tribalist, he don’t make appointments based on religion or region, but his decisions are purely on merit,” he said.
Abba further attributed his move to what he called visible infrastructural progress and inclusive governance under Tinubu’s leadership.
“The president needs your support to continue with the good work. We should mobilise more people and beyond party affiliations to support our president,” he said.
“It is now clear to people that there is no party in Nigeria or presidential candidate that can face our president at the poll come 2027,” he added.
His defection comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several politicians across party lines already positioning themselves within the ruling APC.
