Nigerians have taken to social media to vent their outrage over the recent list of presidential pardons by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Reports is various media platforms nationwide have it that President Tinubu has pardoned 175 people convicted of various crimes against the nation.

Mamman Vatsa, Herbert Macaulay, Farouk Lawan, and Maryam Sanda, who killed her husband in 2020, were among the listed.

According to the 1999 constitution as amended, the president is empowered to grant a total pardon to anyone convicted of any crime in Nigeria.

This means that the likes of Farouk Lawan, a four-time member of the House of Representatives, is now eligible to run for a public office again, as well as Maryam Sanda, who murdered her husband in cold blood, a son of a Bauchi PDP chieftain.

These developments outraged Nigerians who simply believed the current administration is only interested in renewing crimes.

Obinna Chika on X posted

“I am not surprised to see the list, the government’s promise of renewed hope is merely renew hunger and criminality in our country”.

“The one who died is the ultimate loser”, Akinbola wrote.

A billion cases like Maryam Sanda can’t teach me a lesson, you all will not understand her own side of the story. Women are very patient, and when they take an action as drastic as Maryam’s, it could only mean one thing: she has had it up to here”, Mrs Oumar wrote.
