The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially opened its student loan application portal once again, showing the Federal Government’s effort to make higher education more accessible.
The portal (www.nelf.gov.ng) enables students in federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education all over Nigeria to apply for interest-free loans to cover tuition fees.

NELFUND’s Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr, said the scheme aims to “remove financial barriers to education” and will later extend to state-owned institutions.
Applicants must provide their JAMB number, NIN, and admission details to apply. Loan repayment begins two years after NYSC.
The launch was welcomed by many students, who said the initiative could reduce the financial pressure of schooling in Nigeria and the success of the launch is behind the current continuation of the scheme.
