A viral video has sparked outrage after an 81-year-old landlady was accused of physically assaulting her tenant during a heated dispute at a residential compound.
The confrontation reportedly occurred as the tenant prepared to move out following a quit notice issued about two months earlier.
Witnesses claimed the elderly woman blocked the tenant from leaving the premises and allegedly attacked her during the altercation.
The tenant’s sister, who spoke about the incident, insisted that her sibling was not owing rent and had been subjected to repeated hostility over the past two years.
She said, “My sister doesn’t owe any rent, so I don’t know why she’s doing this.”
Observers at the scene alleged that the landlady struck and even bit the tenant while tearing at her clothes, as the younger woman tried to avoid retaliating.
The incident has reignited conversations about tenant safety, elderly behaviour, and rising landlord-tenant conflicts in Nigeria.
