Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has called on the Federal Government to criminalise what he described as fake miracle performances by pastors across the country.
In a video circulating online, Kuti urged authorities to introduce strict laws regulating miracle claims, insisting that such acts must be scientifically verified.
He proposed that alleged miracles should be tested under medical supervision at institutions such as Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
“A law should be made to ensure that no one is allowed to perform miracles unless they can be proven,” Kuti said.
He argued that genuine miracles should be repeatable, suggesting that pastors be asked to perform them on multiple people under controlled conditions.
Kuti added that anyone unable to substantiate their claims should face severe punishment, recommending jail terms of up to 50 years to deter deception and exploitation of the public.
