The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has announced the recall of 11,566 officers previously assigned to the security of Very Important Personalities (VIPs), in line with a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Addressing senior police officials in Abuja on Thursday, Egbetokun said the presidential order grants him full authority to execute the withdrawal without any interference.

The IGP called on all officers to uphold professionalism, remain committed to national security, and sustain proactive measures to curb criminal activities across the country.

He also assured that the police force would continue tackling ongoing security challenges while working in close coordination with other agencies to ensure the safety and protection of Nigerians nationwide.
