Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has opened up about his early struggles with parental opposition while pursuing a career in music.
Speaking during an interview with Korty EO, the singer revealed that his father, Fatai Odunsi, strongly disapproved of his decision, creating a rift between them.
Asake disclosed that the disagreement forced him to leave home at the age of 15, determined to follow his passion despite the resistance.
“The father who gave birth to me is more stubborn than I am… I just took off regardless,” he said.
He noted that although their relationship became strained, his love for his father never changed.
According to him, even in extreme circumstances, his father would always remain important to him.
The singer added that they have since reconciled, with him now taking responsibility for his father’s welfare.
