A Nigerian lady has sparked conversations online after recounting an incident involving her gateman over an Easter rice gesture that was intended as a kind act.
According to her, she had asked the gateman to come with his own plate due to a shortage of takeaway packs while distributing food during the festive period, a practice she said she observes annually.
However, the request reportedly did not go down well, as the gateman later complained through a neighbour, alleging that he felt disrespected by being asked to come with a plate.
The matter escalated when he interpreted the instruction as demeaning, given his status as a married man.
The lady explained that her intention was not to offend but to continue her tradition of sharing food within her means.
The incident has since generated mixed reactions online, with users debating issues of dignity, perception and communication in everyday acts of giving within households and communities.
