Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama has sparked debate after describing her experience with female circumcision, also known as Female Genital Mutilation, as beneficial to her life.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, Inyama disclosed that the procedure was carried out in her childhood while living with her grandmother in a rural community.
She claimed the experience shaped her sense of control in relationships, stating it enables her to set firm boundaries and avoid compromising situations.
According to her, the decision made by her grandmother contributed significantly to her personal discipline and confidence.
Her remarks have drawn attention due to the ongoing global discourse surrounding FGM, a practice widely criticised over its health risks and human rights implications.
Inyama, however, maintained that her experience remains a defining aspect of her personal strength and values.
