Seven persons, including a mother and her six children, have been killed in a brutal attack on a residence in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of Kano State.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed that the incident occurred on January 17, 2025, after armed assailants stormed the home of one Haruna Bashir.
Police authorities said they received a distress call at about 12:10 pm reporting that unknown attackers had forcefully gained entry into the house and carried out the deadly assault.
The victims were identified as 35-year-old Fatima Abubakar and her six children. According to the police, the attackers inflicted severe injuries on the victims using dangerous weapons.
Following the alert, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, immediately ordered the deployment of a tactical team to the scene.

The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani.
All seven victims were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed them dead on arrival.
Providing further details, the command stated: “Bodies were evacuated and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where they were pronounced dead. A team led by ACP Wada Jarma, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was instructed to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The police also disclosed that ACP Wada Jarma, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, had been specifically directed to ensure a comprehensive probe aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible for the killings.
The Kano State Police Command expressed its condolences to the bereaved family, the residents of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, and the entire people of Kano State over the tragic incident, assuring the public that efforts were underway to ensure justice is served.
