Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said the decision was borne out of conviction and sacrifice aimed at promoting peace and unity in Rivers State.
Fubara emphasized that his withdrawal should not be interpreted as weakness, fear, or surrender, but as a deliberate move to support stability and progress.
He noted that he remains fully committed to serving the people of Rivers State until the completion of his tenure.
The governor stressed that political decisions must sometimes be guided by the broader interest of the state rather than personal ambition.
His announcement comes amid growing political tension ahead of the APC primary in Rivers State.
More details are expected as political stakeholders react to the development and its implications for the forthcoming election cycle in Rivers political landscape ahead of future party realignments emerging soon.
