Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, has defended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, amid criticism surrounding the cleric’s comments on Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
The controversy followed Adeboye’s call on the Federal Government to give service chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorism or resign.
Responding to reactions on social media, Bamiloye accused bloggers and critics of misrepresenting Adeboye’s position, insisting that the respected cleric has consistently spoken against societal challenges and insecurity.
He argued that expecting an 84-year-old servant of God to lead street protests against the government was unreasonable because of his age and ministerial calling.
Addressing comparisons with Adeboye’s participation in a 2020 protest walk, Bamiloye clarified that the action was carried out in compliance with directives from the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.
He maintained that the church’s primary responsibility remains prayer for national peace and divine intervention in governance.
