Senator Ned Nwoko has reacted strongly after his wife, actress Regina Daniels, shared her recent drug test results online, warning the public not to mistake temporary abstinence for true recovery.
In a statement issued through his communication team, the lawmaker said a single negative test does not erase earlier medical findings that reportedly showed substance use.
He stressed that healing requires long-term commitment, accountability and professional care, not social media declarations.
Nwoko disclosed that independent assessments were previously carried out in reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa, with documented reports prepared for possible court use.
He also dismissed attempts to downplay MDMA, insisting that changing its name does not reduce its risks.
According to the statement, he had explored private rehabilitation and structured therapy for Regina before the issue became public.
He concluded by calling for genuine, sustained treatment rather than what he described as performative gestures.
