INEC reports 2.4m Nigerians have completed voter registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that over 2.4 million Nigerians have successfully completed both online and physical continuous voter registration ahead of future elections.

INEC’s latest CVR report released on Wednesday shows that a total of 2,449,475 new voters have been registered so far. According to the commission, 1,425,898 completed their online pre-registration, while 1,023,577 finalised theirs through physical capture at designated centres.

Osun State recorded the highest number of completed registrations at 193,026, followed by Imo with 144,209, and Kano with 142,433. Sokoto posted 132,584, Lagos recorded 115,334, and Borno followed with 112,226. The Federal Capital Territory also reported 106,855 completed registrations.

Kogi registered 97,012, Jigawa 95,543, and Zamfara 90,739, while Katsina recorded 87,661 and Kaduna 82,421. Delta emerged with 79,495, closely followed by Kebbi’s 77,721 and Ogun’s 77,014.

Niger State had 73,745 completed registrations, while Oyo and Akwa Ibom posted 68,559 and 68,464 respectively. Rivers recorded 63,621, and Adamawa 52,381.

Other figures include Kwara with 50,221, Yobe 49,766, Benue 46,802, and Bayelsa 41,856. Bauchi reported 37,749, Ekiti 33,393, Gombe 32,890, and Nasarawa 31,862. In the South-East, Ebonyi registered 29,102, Edo 27,602, Plateau 25,301, Taraba 18,731, Enugu 17,234, Ondo 16,709, Cross River 15,339, and Abia 13,875.

INEC confirmed that Anambra remains at zero due to the suspension of voter registration following the just-concluded governorship election, in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The commission noted that the ongoing CVR—which began on August 18, 2025—is scheduled to run until August 2026. It added that the highest participation so far has come from South-West states, although recent mobilisation efforts are driving increased registration in the North.

Community groups, religious institutions and local leaders have also intensified sensitisation campaigns to encourage eligible citizens to register ahead of the next election cycle.
