A market survey conducted by NAN at various wholesale and retail shops, in Enugu on Friday showed that the prices of the materials have increased when compared to the prices in 2025.
A wholesale cement dealer at Building Material Market, Enugu, Mr Daniel Ede, said that the increase in the price started due to the increase in transportation cost nationwide.
Ede noted that a trailer load of Dangote cement with 600 bags initially sold at N4.3 million in 2025 is now about N7 million in the first quarter of 2026.
“The prices change on daily basis, so as we are talking now, I cannot guarantee the prices it will be sold tomorrow,” he said.

According to Agu, a tipper load of sand goes for N110,000 as against N80,000 and granite tipper load is sold for N250,000 as against N210,000 in 2025.
A block industry owner, Mr Udochukwu Sunday, noted that an increase in the price of the product had affected business as six inch and nine-inch blocks had increased from N450 to N550 and N600 to N700 respectively.
A real estate developer, Mr Cletus Ezeh, said that the total cost to complete a standard 3-bedroom bungalow now ranges from N20 million to N30 million depending on location, quality and finishing.
Ezeh lamented that the increased prices of building materials were delaying projects, scaling down developments and worsening Nigeria’s housing deficit.
