An APC senator has stirred nationwide reactions after emotionally addressing the Senate over the worsening economic hardship and insecurity affecting Nigerians.
During a Senate session, the lawmaker identified as Senator Smart called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and fellow lawmakers to urgently tackle the country’s growing challenges.
The senator lamented that many Nigerians now live in fear due to insecurity, rising poverty and hunger. He warned that citizens are becoming frustrated as living conditions continue to worsen across the country.
“If we cannot save this nation, then we should as well shut down the National Assembly,” he said emotionally.
His comments come amid continued criticism of the economic situation following the removal of fuel subsidy in 2023, which triggered inflation and increased living costs nationwide.
The remarks have since sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians describing the senator’s speech as a reflection of public frustration and growing economic concerns.
