A Nigerian student based in the United Kingdom has drawn widespread sympathy online after revealing that she may be forced to return home following the cancellation of her visa.
The young woman, who has been documenting her relocation journey on social media, said months of intensive job hunting failed to secure her a role with visa sponsorship.
According to her account, she applied to about 3,000 jobs and was invited for only 24 interviews, none of which led to employment or sponsorship.
In an emotional call shared online, she told her parents that her visa had been cancelled and she had just a few weeks left in the UK to find a sponsoring employer.
Her father’s response, however, struck a chord with viewers. Offering reassurance, he told her she would always have a home to return to if her plans abroad collapsed.
The video has since sparked conversations about the harsh realities of migration, the UK job market, and the emotional toll of the japa journey on young Nigerians.
