An Abuja-based entrepreneur has sparked online discussion after revealing how perception cost him a lucrative wedding decoration contract.
In a viral video, the businessman said a former client referred him for a March ceremony, leading to portfolio reviews and agreement on a ₦50 million deal.
Before payment, the new clients requested a physical meeting.According to him, the meeting quickly became uncomfortable.
He claimed the clients appeared shocked by his appearance and questioned whether he truly owned the company or merely worked for someone else.
The deal reportedly collapsed after concerns were raised about his credibility. The entrepreneur later explained that he had sold his car years earlier to reinvest in his business, a move he now regrets.
He said similar assumptions have cost him other opportunities, where outward appearance strongly influences trust.
He urged fellow business owners to invest in symbols of success, arguing presentation determines credibility.
