Unknown assailants, believed to be armed herders, carried out a midnight attack on the official residence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Aujara, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State, resulting in the death of a police constable and injuries to another.
According to reports, the attackers arrived unexpectedly and overpowered the officers on duty.
Police Constable Nura Garba Jahun was killed during the assault, while his colleague sustained injuries. Constable Nura was confirmed dead at Jahun General Hospital and has since been buried following Islamic rites.

The slain officer’s family expressed profound shock at the incident. His father, Malam Garba Jahun, described him as “gentle and disciplined” and noted that he had not served long in the police force.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he said, adding that the family had yet to receive detailed information from police authorities. “We don’t know the cause. They came, condoled with us, and left. Maybe later we will know more,” he added.
Community sources reported that nothing was stolen from the residence during the attack.
The District Head of Aujara, Alhaji Aminu Dankade, confirmed the killing in a Facebook post, offering prayers for the repose of the deceased officer.
Police authorities have promised to conduct a full investigation into the attack.
