United States Congressman Rep. Riley M. Moore has voiced confidence that Nigeria can decisively overcome terrorism, provided the commitments made during recent high-level security talks between both countries are fully carried out.

Moore spoke after a closed-door meeting between a visiting US Congressional team and Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, where the two sides reviewed strategies to deepen security cooperation and dismantle terrorist networks, especially in the North-East.

He revealed that the discussions produced “concrete steps and actions” aimed at boosting national security and disrupting terrorist groups operating across the region.

Moore added that these measures could also help end the killing of Christians, particularly in the Middle Belt, an issue he said had drawn the attention of the US President and remained a personal priority.

The congressman praised the Nigerian government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the rescue of 100 abducted Catholic schoolchildren, calling the operation a sign of improved responsiveness to Nigeria’s security concerns.

He noted that the successful mission reflected the administration’s seriousness in executing the emergency security measures recently announced by the President.

Moore further stated that the two nations are moving toward a more integrated security partnership, highlighting the newly established joint task force between Nigeria and the United States as evidence of growing operational collaboration.

“The US sense of urgency was well received, and I believe a framework for cooperation is now within reach,” he said.

While acknowledging that significant challenges remain, Moore said the Nigerian government had demonstrated readiness to work with the United States on combating terrorism, addressing insecurity and strengthening human rights protections.
