Makinde failed to secure PDP’s VP slot – Wike’s aide, Lere Olayinka

The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of pursuing a vice presidential ambition and making statements capable of inciting violence.

Olayinka, who serves under the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, made the allegations in a post on his X handle, claiming that Makinde’s recent comments were driven by political frustration within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He described the governor as “partyless,” alleging that he had lost influence within the PDP and was now seeking relevance ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to Olayinka, Makinde’s rhetoric suggested a dangerous political direction.

“I just hope he knows the gravity of inciting violence, even as a sitting governor,” he wrote.

He further claimed that the governor had failed in several political pursuits.

“He failed to secure the total control of the PDP so as to use the party for its juvenile vice presidential ambition.

“He failed in his bid to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja.

“He failed to use a Tipatikuuku (by fire by force) coronation to stop Sharafadeen Alli from contesting for the APC governorship ticket in Oyo State.

“He has refused to account for the N30bn he collected from the Federal Government to settle victims of the Bodija, Ibadan explosion of January 2024. He even said he was going to return the money to the FG, but up till now, he hasn’t.”

Olayinka alleged that Makinde’s actions were tied to his political ambitions outside the PDP.

“Now, he is threatening violence just because he has lost out in the PDP and he is desperately looking for the ADC vice presidential ticket.

“Issorite, let him Kontinu. But will he put his own children forward to lead the violence?” he added
