A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread reactions online after revealing that her fiancé ended their six-year relationship over an expensive bride price list presented by her family.

According to her, their relationship had been progressing smoothly until the traditional marriage requirements were shared with him.

She explained that the list, which was not her decision, included several costly items such as livestock, food supplies, large sums of money, building materials, and luxury smartphones for her parents.

After reviewing the demands, her fiancé reportedly expressed his inability to meet them and subsequently cut off communication.

The woman maintained that she had no control over the list and appealed to the public to help her reach out to him.

The incident has since ignited intense debate on social media, with many Nigerians criticizing rising bride price expectations, while others defended cultural traditions surrounding marriage rites and family involvement in marital negotiations.
