A Nigerian man has sparked intense debate online after reportedly refusing to return ₦2.5 million that was mistakenly credited to his bank account, choosing imprisonment instead.
The incident was disclosed by an X user, @StHonorable, who claimed the man quickly transferred the funds to another bank account to prevent an automatic reversal.
Security operatives later tracked him down while he was allegedly in hiding and arrested him.
Despite police intervention, the man reportedly remained defiant, insisting he would rather be jailed than refund the money.
Even when asked to return only the remaining balance, he allegedly stood his ground and rejected the option.
The case has drawn comparisons to a previous incident involving Ojo Eghosa Kingsley, who reportedly chose a one-year prison sentence over returning hundreds of millions of naira accidentally credited to his account.
The story has since gone viral, triggering widespread reactions on social media.
