The immediate past president of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwunmi Adeshina, has hinted at returning to public office after completing a 10-year tenure at the AFDB.
Adeshina, a former minister of agriculture in Nigeria, has been linked several times with Nigeria’s presidential contest, reports which he has denied in recent months.
Adeshina, in a post on his verified X handle, revealed that his next move is to achieve 5Rs, which includes Recover. Refresh. Recalibrate. Relaunch.
“Enjoying time resting after 10 hectic years as President of the @AfDB_Group. I am so proud of the transformational impacts of our High5s across Africa and globally. Now, I have embarked on 5Rs: Rest. Recover. Refresh. Recalibrate. Relaunch. I will be back, soon”, he posted.
As the race for the 2027 presidential election begins to gather momentum, it is believed that Adeshina’s chances at securing a top position in whatever government is formed after the election would determine how much he aligns with political powers that be.
Though very silent on his political ambition but his recent post suggests he would be interested in going back to politics, which earned him a ministerial slot during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
