Nigerian singer Liya has opened up on her decision to leave Davido Music Worldwide, the label owned by Davido, in 2023.
Speaking during an interview on Wahala with Josy Anne, the artiste said her exit was driven by a desire for personal growth and improved mental health.
Liya, who became the first female signee to DMW in October 2020, disclosed that she battled depression, exhaustion and public criticism during her time at the label.
She said the pressure and negative comments made her feel misunderstood and overwhelmed.
The singer revealed that the situation became so intense that she stopped managing her own social media accounts for nearly three years, relying instead on her manager to handle her Instagram posts.
Despite the challenges, Liya praised her manager for his patience and support, noting that he never forced her to engage online while she struggled emotionally.
