Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Ganiyu Morufu, widely known as Ijoba Lande, has accused officers of the Area ‘J’ Division of the Lagos State Police Command of assault and theft.
The entertainer made the allegations in a viral video shared on his verified Facebook page, where he appeared with visible injuries around his eyes.
In the footage, bystanders were seen cleaning his face while he complained of being beaten by police officers.
According to Ijoba Lande, the officers allegedly seized his iPhone 16 Pro Max and took $1,200 in cash belonging to his brother during the incident.
He claimed the assault occurred just days after he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
“I nearly lost my life,” he said, adding that the officers attacked him without justification.
The circumstances surrounding the encounter remain unclear, as the actor has yet to disclose further details.
The Lagos State Police Command is yet to respond to the allegation.
