A groom shocked social media after cancelling his wedding on the day of the ceremony following a public confrontation involving his mother-in-law.
The man, who shared his story on X (formerly Twitter), explained that the incident occurred during preparations for family photographs when his wife’s mother publicly scolded her husband for falling behind.
Alarmed by her behaviour, the groom feared how his future wife might treat him. “I called my best man to the corner and told him I’m cancelling the wedding. Because if her mother can talk down on her husband in such a manner in public, I’m afraid her daughter will do worse,” he wrote.
To exit discreetly, he pretended to receive a troubling call, left the venue, and switched off his phone until the next day, effectively ending the marriage.
The post sparked mixed reactions online, with users praising him for trusting his instincts while others reflected on stress and family dynamics.
