The FBI has arrested 24-year-old Nigerian, Damilola Bamigboye, for allegedly kidnapping a Department of Homeland Security agent to evade deportation in the US
The incident occurred on December 10 in Plymouth, Minnesota, during a routine immigration enforcement operation targeting Bamigboye for overstaying his student visa.

According to court documents, Bamigboye allegedly instructed his girlfriend, Rekeya Frazier, to flee in a vehicle while a federal agent was inside, forcing the officer to fear for his safety.
The chase ended near the New Hope Police Department, where Bamigboye jumped out and was later apprehended. Frazier was also taken into custody.
Bamigboye admitted struggling with the officer and directing the vehicle to escape but denied that agents had properly identified themselves, citing post-traumatic stress from a prior kidnapping in Nigeria.
The FBI said both Bamigboye and Frazier likely violated U.S. law on assaulting a federal officer. Bamigboye has been arraigned in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and remains in custody pending legal proceedings.
