Former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, has alleged that real political power in Osun State lies with billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, rather than with the sitting governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Adesiyan made the claim during an interview on state affairs with Edmund Obilo, where he described the father of music star Davido as the dominant force behind the state’s administration, referring to him as the “real governor” of Osun.
“Deji Adeleke is the governor. Who is Ademola Adeleke? Can that one become governor?” Adesiyan said. “Deji is the one in charge.”

He further argued that Deji Adeleke’s influence in Osun politics did not start with the current administration, noting that the businessman had played a powerful role even during the time of his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
“I served under his brother when he was in government. I knew the influence Deji wielded over his senior brother,” Adesiyan added.
According to the former minister, Deji Adeleke’s status as a wealthy entrepreneur gives him far-reaching control within the state’s political structure.
He described him as “a capitalist to the core,” whose influence, he claimed, runs deep across Osun’s governance and decision-making processes.
