Actress, producer, and debut director Toyin Abraham has been honoured for her blockbuster film, Oversabi Aunty, which grossed over N1 billion at the Nigerian box office.
The award, presented by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), recognised Abraham’s “outstanding box office performance” as a first-time director.
The ceremony, held at the NFVCB’s South West Zonal Office in Ikoyi, Lagos, saw appearances from Olori Temitope Ogunwusi, Blessing Ebigieson of Viva Cinemas, Patrick Lee, and Grace Edwin-Okon.
Dr Shaibu Husseini praised Abraham’s resilience, vision, and dedication, noting that her success highlights Nollywood’s global potential.Olori Ogunwusi described the film as transformative, sharing that it prompted her to reconnect with her children.
“Toyin Abraham has taught me that even in busy lives, we must be intentional about our loved ones. It is a must-watch for all parents, especially religious people,” she said.
The award cements Abraham’s rising influence in Nigerian cinema.
